Sundays at Ibiza Rocks - Craig David's TS5 Ibiza 2016

Sunday… strongly recognised as the day a young English singer-songwriter from Southampton in Hampshire decided to chill after famously making love for four straight days. However this summer, Sundays will be recognised as the day Craig David’s TS5 Ibiza 2016 took over Ibiza Rocks!

Star-studded and a genius in every considerable aspect possible in the world of UK garage and R&B, international superstar Craig David has done it all. From rising to fame alongside Artful Dodger back in 1999 on the ‘Re-Rewind’ and selling 13 million albums worldwide to leaving his fans speechless with his renditions of Justin Bieber’s latest bangers, the king of UK garage has now set his sights on the party capital of the globe, Ibiza.

Looking to continue his recent unstoppable revival, the second coming of Craig David will be taking the sun-soaked party vibes of South Beach Miami and stamping his authority firmly in San Antonio, Ibiza with an exclusive pool party residency at Ibiza Rocks Hotel.

You can expect big splashes, monumental tidal waves, heck even a rainfall of summer-soaked urban-cut pool party anthems from this R&B diamond following his recent path of destruction. Ever since he got the world talking about his Korupt FM shenanigans, appearances have followed at the likes of Notting Hill Carvinal, Fabric’s 16th birthday, Bestival and Alexandra Palace and he will continue to gather momentum heading into his residency on the White Isle.

Joining Craig over on the White Isle this summer will be an array of artists of extraordinary talents. These will include Big Narstie, Majestic, Matt Jam Lamont, Monki, My Nu Leng, Preditah, Toyboy & Robin and DJ Zinc.

So when will you be able ‘chill’ with Craig David on a Sunday?

With Ibiza confirmed as his oyster, Ibiza Rocks Hotel set to be his venue, Sundays beginning on 17th July all the way up until 4th September will be the dates you’ll want to be re-rewinding over and over again once it’s all said and done at the end of 2016!

With Craig David all over your Sundays in Ibiza, there’s only one thing left for the crowd to do – GO WILD!

Ibiza 2016: What you need to know!

Many people will tell you that due to an increasingly competitive festival market and the rise of destinations like Croatia and Romania, Ibiza's popularity is waning. But the tell a different story. In 2015 Ibiza airport received more flights (64,612) and processed more passengers (6.4 million) than ever before. The White Isle is not on the decline—if anything, it's as important to the clubbing circuit today as it has been at any point in the past 30 years.

Even so, huge shifts are afoot. Space, one of the most iconic and best-loved nightclubs in the world, is closing at the end of the summer. The keys will be handed over to the team behind neighbouring Ushuaïa, so it's anyone's guess what the future holds for the Playa D'en Bossa site. One thing's for sure, though, Carl Cox will not feature in the plans. After 15 years helming Tuesday nights, he's calling time on his residency. It's the end of an era, but there's a silver lining. The next five months are likely to be some of the liveliest in Space and Cox's history, which is saying something. The highlight? It's gotta be the big man's all-night closing set on September 20th.

In other news, the island waits with bated breath to see if Ibiza's governing body follows through with the proposed 6:30 AM closing times for all clubs. If they do, the venue worst affected will be Amnesia, which last year was warned and then fined for repeatedly breaching its licence. Music On and Cocoon, in particular, thrive in these illicit dawn hours, so it's possible the new law will hit them hard. A similar law extends to beach parties, which now must shut by midnight. Given how much they suffered at the hands of the authorities last year, this could put an end to them altogether.

There is, however, plenty to look forward to. Maceo Plex's Mosaic By Maceo is the most high-profile new party, and probably the most intriguing in terms of bookings. Will Pearson Sound, Matrixxman and Lord Of The Isles work at Pacha? One DJ who feels like a sure thing is Luciano, whose Vagabundos clan is back at Pacha for the first time since 2012, as part of Insane. Other notable events for 2016 include Unusual Suspects at Sankeys (Binh, Vera, Petre Inspirescu), Tale Of Us's Afterlife residency at Space (Giegling, Voices From The Lake, Bob Moses), the return of DJ Harvey's Monday all-nighters at Pikes, and Zoo Project, which celebrates its tenth birthday this summer. A special mention should also go to Joseph Capriati, who's left Music On in search of pastures new, namely Solomun +1, Carl Cox, Elrow and Paradise, where he'll play seven dates. All in all, it should be another hot, hectic and happy few months—even if they could signal the end of Ibiza as we know it.
